Our commitment

Chicago Hat Club (Doodle House LLC) wants everyone to be able to browse, choose a hat, and check out on this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, voice control, or other assistive technology.

The standard we follow

We work to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the standard most widely used for accessible websites.

How we check

Before every update to the site goes live, an automated accessibility test checks every public page, on both a desktop browser and a phone-size Safari browser, against the WCAG 2.1 A and AA rules. A release with a problem is stopped.
We also test by hand: shopping and checking out with only a keyboard, and with a screen reader (VoiceOver on Mac and iPhone).
New pages and features follow written accessibility rules, including text alternatives for images, labels on every form field, visible keyboard focus, readable color contrast, and pop-ups that can be closed with the Escape key.

Parts we don't control

Card payment fields, Apple Pay and Google Pay, PayPal and Venmo, Afterpay, and the quick security check at checkout are provided by those companies (Square, PayPal, Afterpay, and Cloudflare). We choose providers that support assistive technology, but we can't change their code. If any of them gets in your way, contact us and we'll take your order directly, at the same price and with the same discounts you'd get online.
